Donna Moncrief
I began my workout journey in January 2017. I was overweight and completely out of shape . My husband told me about a boot camp that Victor and Aimee were doing . He brought me their business card. I remember my first phone call to Victor. I was pretty terrified to do this, but he reassured me that I could go at my own pace. So I took a leap of faith and signed up for a 6 week boot camp.
Needless to say, I struggled to be able to do anything. But I kept showing up and I kept trying. Victor and Aimee were super patient and kind. They were very encouraging to me. I had days where I was so sore, I thought "Why am I doing this to myself?" I was always the slowest in the class. It was frustrating. I had days when I left in tears! But I didn't quit! I also changed my eating habits at the same time. There was a lot of change going on.
After the first 6 weeks, I signed up for another 6 weeks of boot camp. Then I signed up for TRX classes. With Victor and Aimee's encouragement, I began to change my body and become stronger and more flexible.
I have lost 35 lbs since January. Slow and steady is how I have approached this journey. I will continue working out and hopefully lose more weight in the process .
Honestly, I started this because I want to be in good health. I want to be the best me I can be. I want to be able to play with my grandchildren and feel good. I would love to tell you there is an easy quick fix, but there isn't. It takes hard work! But it's worth it!
If you are considering beginning a workout program, let me encourage you. You can do it!!! If I can do it, anyone can! I began at the age of 54. I struggled, was frustrated and shed tears but I am doing it and you can too!!
By the way, I still struggle and I still am the slowest runner and still can't do some of the things everyone else can do. But I still show up!!!!
I am very thankful for the day I made that phone call and began this journey!
